Features
A real inventory of what's built and live today, not a roadmap, not a pitch. This page absorbs the map's own legend and "how to use" content (previously behind the map's ⓘ popup) as its permanent home, plus the capabilities the legend never covered on its own.

Basemap switcher (top-left) toggles between the street map, orthophoto, and satellite imagery, used to visually verify a building's condition (roof, vegetation, cars) before trusting the heuristic score.
Every building gets a 0–3 signal count from open data (OSM disused/abandoned tags, typology, orthophoto condition) plus its reasons. Colour alone never confirms vacancy: the score is a heuristic, not a register.
Blue circles mark bus/train stops from OpenStreetMap (buildings within 1.5km are flagged transit-accessible); a distinct rail icon now tiers main-line vs. high-speed stations, and "remote" buildings (>4km to any stop, car required) get their own dark-green marker.
Gold markers: hand-identified unlocking candidates from field research, each with a date and source; the project's own curated, verified layer, distinct from the heuristic score.
Teal markers: the owner's own saved places (imported Google Maps lists and My Maps pins), personal reference data, not vacancy documentation.
An "on corridor only" filter plus a corridor-axis lens (e.g. the Wien–Eisenerz rail axis via Semmering and the historic Erzbergbahn): buildings can be read by distance to a named infrastructure line, not only by which region they sit in. Full reasoning at /how/methodology.
Working with the data
One shared table component, two hosts: a compact mode inside the map sidebar's Table tab (with an expand-to-full-page link), and a full mode at its own page with the complete Documented Leerstand catalog and success stories, not just the ranked rows.
A "Show: Pilot regions only / Scaffold regions only / All regions" filter. Pilot = curated, verified building dataset. Scaffold = the region is wired up (buildings still load on zoom) but has no curated dataset yet, a work-in-progress region shown honestly as such.
The ranked table is driven by adjustable scoring profiles and per-amenity weight sliders (space, price proxy, quiet, nature, access), not a single fixed ranking.
The ranked table can be exported (CSV) for offline review of whatever the current filter set produced.
Community and trust
A per-building identity flow (name + email + a chosen consent level: anonymous, named-internal, or named-public) lets a real person attach their verification to a building without a site-wide password account.
Signed-in verifiers can leave notes on a building, tied to their consent-controlled identity at read time; a building can carry any number of notes, appended rather than overwritten.
The one genuinely private field in the verification flow (a verifier's email) is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM before it touches disk, and decrypted transparently on read: fail-closed by design, with no silent plaintext fallback in any deployed environment.
Legend & how to use
The same reference content that lives behind the map's own "ⓘ Legend & help" popup, kept here as its permanent, linkable home.
Each colour represents how many vacancy signals were detected for that building using open data. Colour alone does not confirm the property is vacant — field verification is always needed.
Kept in sync in spirit, not automated, with the map's own LegendHelpPopup.svelte; if that component's content changes, this page should be updated to match. The popup itself links here for anyone who wants the reference to stay open in a tab instead of a modal.
